It was the annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored and provided by Bethel Christian Assemby of Alpine at the Joan MacQueen Middle School Sports fields.
Hundreds showed up to hunt for eggs spread across three different sports fields. Children in their Easter finery were running across the grass to gather up their spring treasures.
A Phone Scam is underway NOW in Alpine, phone calls are being received in Alpine, as a notification that ATM cards are being cancelled, and the owner of the ATM card needs to call a phone number to get it reactivated. When the Alpine branch of California Bank and Trust was notified, they said that they had already received 3 calls about this, and it is a false call. This is probably an identity theft scam, BEWARE!!!!
John Stewart Harbison grew up in Freedom, PA where he learned the nursery trade from his father. In 1854, when a severe drought nearly ruined their business, it was time for a change. So, at the age of 28, John moved to California in search of gold. Well, prospecting didn’t suit him much so he decided to go back to what he knew –agriculture. But this time he would stay in California, opening his nursery in Sutterville.
Trains and the Easter Bunny
There’s no better place to look for Easter Eggs than the Campo Railroad Museum! Children from all over stopped in to visit with the Easter Bunny, and find the Easter Eggs over this last weekend.
There were actually 98 candles lit and ready for the birthday boy to make his wish. A. J. Canfil celebrated his 98th birthday at Alpine’s Al Pancho’s restaurant with his family, his son and his family which included, his grandson and his family. This would make four generations ringing in this gentleman’s 98th year on this earth! Happy 98th birthday A. J. ! We hope that it is a great one!
