D.C. 8th Grade Tour – Fantastic Event
I wanted to send a quick note of appreciation for a fantastic event the week of the 23rd of March. I was fortunate to be a chaperone for my son’s 8th Grade DC Kids 2013 trip. We (54 kids and 24 chaperones) flew out of San Diego to Washington, DC, and we explored our nation’s history in DC, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, and New York City. I can’t think of a better way to learn about history than to visit the sites, experience the monuments, and march on the battlefields. That’s what we did on this trip.
I could go on and on about the monuments, memorials, museums, sites, guides and so on but there’s not enough room for me to do that. I do want to highlight three points that I think really made this trip so wonderful:
To begin with, Holt Travel (David, Linda, and Corinne) didn’t miss a single detail, handled every “gotcha” that popped up, and really took care of all of us. I couldn’t ask for better support and leadership than they provided.
Then, the opportunity to spend time with my son’s friends and the other chaperones was icing on the cake. I really enjoyed getting to know the other parents on this trip, and we all enjoyed watching the kids taking in all the history and experiences this trip provided.
Lastly, one week before we left, my son broke a bone in his foot! This could have been a BIG problem, but it was just one of those “gotcha’s” for David and Corinne.
My son and I weren’t limited in any of the adventure with the exception of Landis swimming at the hotel in Philadelphia due to his cast. I would’ve never guessed it was possible to have this adventure with my son, but I now realize ‘impossible’ isn’t in David or Corinne’s vocabulary. Landis and I have wonderful memories that we’ll share for a lifetime, and I’m already planning for my younger son’s trip in 2015! I’m looking forward to another great experience, but I’m hoping we can avoid any broken bones! Thank you Holt Travel and my DC Kids 2013 travelmates!
