New Alpine Library receives Design Award

ABL - Viejas Meeting-1web.jpg

This week the Society of American Registered Architects recognized the New Alpine Library with an Award of Honor for a “building in the design phase”.  This is a prestigious honor, and we’re very proud that the design produced by Philip Pape and Associates will become an important part of the Alpine Community.

As you will have seen as you drive by, the pad has now been backfilled to the retaining wall and you can see where the library will be constructed more clearly. The construction close to the Boulevard is where the frames for the “fins” to shade the Children’s Area are being constructed.  If you peek over the back fence from the children’s playground you will see the saw-tooth planters which will soften the rear patio wall with trees and shrubs. The park grass also will be replaced after construction is completed producing a lovely setting for a picnic or concert. The building is on schedule to open in late May – only eight months away.
ALFA is still seeking donations to complete the Furnishings Fixtures and Equipment. Stop by the library or the Bookstore to drop off your contribution, or mail it to ALFA ,PO Box 13, Alpine CA 91903.  You can see lots of great pictures on the ALFA Website at www.Alpinelibraryfriends.org.  All donations of $100 or more will be recognized on the Donor Wall in the front lobby.
