Life presents us with many opportunities – sometimes more than we feel able to handle. Many are going through some tough decisions right now especially with the changing mandates from government coming down daily. I feel for all the churches like ours that can no longer meet indoors. I feel for the hair salons that just got to open business and now have to close again. I feel for all the parents who have to be more creative and involved in their children’s education. Not to speak of those dealing with major health issues and the medical staff supporting them! Yes, these are trying times for many.
But as we discussed last week, we are all free to choose our thoughts and responses to life’s changes. To manage these changes in supportive ways takes awareness that there is a Power within and around us we can call on and belief that as we unite with this Power we are more than enough to handle any outside situation.
One very helpful method we can utilize is to simply breathe. As we focus on our breath, we realize it is a two-cycle action. We breathe in and we breathe out. Focusing on our breath if only for one minute, gives us a refreshing break, for the mind and emotions are freed of concerns, worries and doubts. I have an app on my watch that every so often brings me this reminder – to simply breathe! What a blessing!
As we breathe, we are brought into the current moment. With every breath in we must release it in order to bring in another. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could release thoughts as easily? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could release excess things in our lives as easily?
There’s a saying many of us have used for years, “Let go and let God”. If the term “God” bothers you, use “Love” instead. At any given moment we are free to release consternation so we are available to let Love fill us with Its soothing balm. If you try it enough times it can actually become your default mode. How great would that be?
Say with me: “I choose to release thoughts of worry and concern. In fact, I release any and all things that no longer serve my life. I know right where I am God/Love is, and all is well. What a blessing! And it is so.”
