Alpine’s Quest for Cure team is tops at county’s annual WALK4ALZ

Quest for the Cure from the Alpine View Lodge was top team again this year at the annual WALK4ALZ fundraiser on Oct. 20 in San Diego.

The Alpine team raised over $78,000 to help those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, and for Alzheimer’s research. All the money raised by the teams is dedicated for use in San Diego County.

Team captain Linda Cioffi of Alpine View Lodge rallied thousands of others who participated in the walk in Balboa Park as she and her team were honored at the podium.

“While Quest for the Cure was recognized as the top team for the walk the most important team at the WALK4ALZ is the team at Alzheimer’s San Diego,” Cioffi said in a statement later. “The staffing team at Alzheimer’s San Diego is committed to both walking this path and helping each step of the way for those afflicted right now and to funding research that someday results in a world without Alzheimer’s.”

Cioffi also praised other teams, donors and sponsors.

2018 Diamond Sponsors for Quest for the Cure are the Alpine View Lodge, the Alpine Community Center and the Descanso Junction Restaurant.

“We’re close to $80,000,” Cioffi said about Quest for the Cure’s’ increasing donations. “That doesn’t even count all the loose change and checks from people at the walk.”

Quest for the Cure couldn’t have raised so much money without the support of local businesses, community groups, individuals and family and friends of people who have Alzheimer’s, and the team is very grateful for the help, said Cioffi.

“It was unbelievable,” she said. “One of our clients, Waketta, even did the walk. Her daughter, Audria, was there with her.”

She said donations are still coming in for the Quest for the Cure team. More donations may still be made at www.alzsd.org.
