Backcountry bulletin: Applications still accepted

Applications to fill a vacancy on the Mountain Empire Uni­fied School District Board are being accepted.

Candidates for Trustee Area 3 have until 4 p.m. Dec. 10 to fill out and return an application in person or via fax to Secretary to :

Through Dec. 21 climb aboard the North Pole Limited as it makes its way from the Campo Depot on a round trip excursion that will take passengers along a ride to view the backcoun­try while keeping an eye out for the North Pole and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Or­ganizers saytheir jolly elf crew will entertain riders with holi­day sing-alongs, festive stories, and delicious hot chocolate and cookies.

All trains depart from the Campo Depot, 750 Depot St.

Tickets start at $15 for chil­dren and $30 for adults.

Departure times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
