Something for everyone

By Susan del Castillo

There’s something for everyone at the library this month, from hands-on crafts to practical skills and a special birthday celebration!

Kick off the month with Manure Composting for Backyard Farmers on Saturday, May 3, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. If you have farm animals like chickens, goats, or even a cow, this workshop will teach you how to transform their manure into nutrient-rich compost for your garden. Learn sustainable composting techniques and get your questions answered by experts. Register at solanacenter. org/events.

Looking for a unique and meaningful Mother’s Day gift? Join us for DIY Beaded Necklaces on Saturday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m. – noon. String beads and create something beautiful—whether for yourself or a loved one! This fun program is open to ages 13 and up. Registration is required at sdcl.org/ alpine.

We’re celebrating our 9th year at the Alpine Library Birthday Celebration on Tuesday, May 13, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Join us for face painting by Sparkles the Clown, fun games, a festive photo wall, a party blower craft, and of course—cupcakes! Kids won’t want to miss this fun-filled afternoon!

Later in the month, unleash your creativity at our Button Art workshop on Saturday, May 31, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Create a one-of-a-kind piece of art using colorful buttons—perfect for ages 13 and up. Registration is required at sdcl.org/alpine.

Mark your calendars and join us for these enjoyable events! This is just a small sampling of what’s going on in May. Open the attached calendar for a complete schedule or connect with us online at sdcl.org/alpine and facebook.com/AlpineLibrary. All library programs are free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of the Alpine Library Friends Association.

See you at the library!
