On April 7th at the Mount Laguna Burnt Rancheria, the Girl Scouts assisted in planting over 100 Black Oak Tree seedlings. They gathered together with community members, and were provided with sprouted acorns and planting baskets, along with training on how to place each new tree in the ground.

Mount Laguna’s high elevations support the growth of the black oaks and grassy meadows that attract so many picnickers on the weekends and holidays. The recent droughts and the oak borer have taken its toll on these beautiful and majestic trees, and this effort is a great step towards replenishing the Cleveland National Forest.
