Law still investigating alleged beating of flag waver

Authorities are still investigating a possible battery and vandalism case that was reported on June 28 in the 1600 block of Alpine Boulevard.

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, a man called the sheriff for help after a woman verbally and physically attacked him over the Nazi flag he had draped on the rear of his vehicle.

The victim also claims he was pushed by a man who allegedly vandalized the flag.

The reports states that both the man and woman involved in the reported confrontation got into a car with two other people and drove away.

The incident is potentially connected to a different event that occurred June 26, where a man reportedly stood near the corner of Alpine Boulevard and Willows Road waving a Nazi flag.

When deputies arrived to investigate that situation, the man had left the scene.

Alpine resident Albert Aguilar identified the man as Jesus Seineke and said it was initially shocking to see the Nazi flag openly displayed.

“When I first saw the flag, I did a double-take. I’ve lived in Alpine almost five years and it was the first time I saw something like that. It’s sad that this is 2020 and this is still going on, but he’s not breaking any laws. There’s obviously something not right with him, but for me, to see that, it’s a sad statement of where we are as a country right now,” Aguilar said.

Since the reported incidents involving the Nazi flag, Aguilar said he has also seen Seineke wear an armband emblazoned with the Nazi symbol while out for a run on Willows Road.

Other Alpine residents such as Ryan DePrizio have commented that racially-driven incidents are relatively uncommon in Alpine.

“I think this guy got his 10 minutes of fame but I don’t believe he reflects our views up here. Everybody understands there’s always going to be that .001 percent,” DePrizio said.

However, Army Veteran and VFW Quartermaster Carl Silva said displaying the Nazi flag is hurtful not just to the community but to the country.

“You have to understand that waving that flag when you have Americans who lost their lives in WWII is very hurtful. That flag is the symbol of execution for millions of Jews and oppression and a world war that killed literally thousands of people. Sure, he has the right to do that but, in this particular case, it was such a horrendous symbol of death and man’s inhumanity to man that perhaps, if you really care about the American people and our country you’ll get rid of that flag,” Silva said.
