A $16,919 Neighborhood Reinvestment Program will be used to help fund the expansion of the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor.
A 5-0 San Diego County Board of Supervisors vote January 16 approved the allocation to Kiwanis Club of Alpine Foundation, Inc., while finding that the allocation is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act review.

A $16,919 Neighborhood Reinvestment Program will be used to help fund the expansion of the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor.
A 5-0 San Diego County Board of Supervisors vote January 16 approved the allocation to Kiwanis Club of Alpine Foundation, Inc., while finding that the allocation is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act review.
Each county supervisor has an annual $2 million discretionary Neighborhood Reinvestment Program budget. The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program is intended to provide grants to non-profit organizations for the furtherance of public purposes at the regional and community levels. In addition to non-profit organizations, county supervisors can also fund schools and fire departments, and supervisors can also use money from their budgets to supplement other county funding for specific county projects such as parks, roads, and libraries. Each county supervisor recommends the allocation of his or her Neighborhood Reinvestment Program funds, although those allocations must be approved by a majority of the board. Supervisor Dianne Jacob recommended District Two Neighborhood Reinvestment Program funds for the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor.
The Kiwanis Club of Alpine primarily helps underprivileged local children and undertakes philanthropic projects to benefit the Alpine community. In 2011 the Kiwanis Club chapter built the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor to commemorate and pay tribute to the veterans who have served in America’s military branches. The expansion of the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor will allow additional tiles with veterans’ names to honor the service of local past and present military members.
