The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is set to deliberate and approve its recommended Fiscal Year 2023-24 $8.11 billion budget on June 27 at 9 a.m. There are two meetings scheduled before budget approval.
June 12 at 9 a.m. is a budget presentation and public testimony on the budget.
June 15 at 5:30 p.m. for public testimony on the budget.

Again, this year, in Capital Appropriations, the Alpine County Park is on the budget.
CAPITAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023–24.
Alpine Local Park Acquisition, Design, Environmental Analysis, and Construction Fiscal Year 2023–24 Appropriations: $5 million.
Estimated Total Project Cost: $43,250,000, ($33 million approved in the FY 2023-23 budget).
Funding Source: General Purpose Revenue $5 million.
Scope: Design and environmental analysis for the construction of Alpine Park in Alpine. Park amenities could include sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, all-wheel park, dog park, trails and other recreation amenities. Project will be constructed in phases.
Current Status: Design and Environmental Analysis.
Anticipated Construction Completion: Summer 2027.
Alpine Community Loop Pre- Construction $10,460,000, ($8 million approved in 2022-23 budget), for design, environmental analysis, easement acquisition and construction of pathway and sidewalk improvements to increase connectivity to Alpine Park.
Operating impact for the park will include $0.4 million in staffing, operations, maintenance, contracted services, and utility costs to operate ($0.2 million in 2022/23 budget).
Estimated Total Project Cost $22 million. Estimated Completion Date, September 2024. Estimated Ongoing Annual Operation and Maintenance Costs $364,918. Estimated Increase in Staff Years, 2.0. Estimated Revenue for Ongoing Costs, $38,186.
On June 29, 2021, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved its 2021/22 recommended budget, which included $10.5 million for phase 1 of Alpine County Park. The total estimate of the project was at that time was $28 million. Since the 1990s, the county of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department worked with the Alpine Community Planning Group and other stakeholders to obtain a suitable community park location. The County purchased the 98-acre parcel of land with intent to build an active recreation area from Wright’s Field Partnership, LLC on March 4, 2019, for $1,621,500. Of the 90 acres, approximately 26-acres is expected to be developed for the Alpine County Park. The remaining acres will remain open space preserve.
