Backcountry bulletin: Spring Break ends, bike rodeo planned

Instruction resumes through­out the Mountain Empire School District next week as Spring Break comes to a close April 4.

On April 9 registration opens for the district’s Expanded Learning Summer Programs, available to students in TK through 11th grade.

On April 15 the Mountain Empire School District will host a public meeting in which one of the topics of discussion is Residential and Commercial/Industrial Development School Fee Justification Study. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. April 15 in the district board room at 3291 Buckman Springs Road in Pine Valley.

At Campo Elementary School on April 9 a fire prevention and snake safety assembly is planned while on April 22 there will be an Earth Day celebra­tion.

Mountain Empire High School’s wrestling banquet is on April 12. Cheer tryouts are April 10, however cheer clinic is April 7-9. Clinic attendance is mandatory for anyone hoping to tryout for cheer.

On April 13 a bike rodeo will take place after an egg hunt at Lt. John W. Finn VFW Post 2080, 301 Sheridan Road, in Campo.

Riders must bring their own bikes and helmets to partici­pate. The event begins at 1 p.m.
