Granite Hills Senior Awards Night honored Alpine students

Last Wednesday evening was Granite Hills Senior Awards Night where 185 students received their honor cords and were recognized for their academic excellence.
37 of these students were products of our Alpine Schools. Graduating with a 4.87 GPA was Isaac Myres who was one of three Valedictorians in the class of 2014.
What brings me to the Senior Award Night each year is the presentation of the Kiwanis Alpine Challenge scholarships. Each year two students are
identified by their counselors at the beginning of their Sophomore year and sign contracts with Kiwanis to keep their grades up, have good attendance, and remain drug free. At the beginning of their Senior year they receive a laptop computer to help them through the college application process, and upon graduation, are rewarded with a $3,000 scholarship. This years recipients were Jose Garcia and Jacob Palmer. Jose is graduating with honors, and Jake completed the very rigorous International Baccalaureate program.
Congratulations to all our Alpine graduates! We are SO proud of you!
