I want to tell everyone about a really wonderful man, who, when I first met him seemed like a dynamo is gone. Back when I was attending Queen of Angels Catholic Church here in Alpine, and we, my family and I, were very involved, we had the pleasure of meeting Jim Archer. Jim was the handsome man with the white hair and glasses who could have been a movie star, standing next to his wife who could have also been a movie star.

I want to tell everyone about a really wonderful man, who, when I first met him seemed like a dynamo is gone. Back when I was attending Queen of Angels Catholic Church here in Alpine, and we, my family and I, were very involved, we had the pleasure of meeting Jim Archer. Jim was the handsome man with the white hair and glasses who could have been a movie star, standing next to his wife who could have also been a movie star.
You see I sang in the choir at the time, and I had the unique opportunity to see everyone who was attending mass. Jim and his family always struck me as beautiful, and they were beautiful, inside and out. Jim worked tirelessly at the church on their electrical, he was part of the Knights of Columbus, he was also on the Fire Board here in Alpine, and served on the Alpine Community Planning Group.
I remember working with Jim and his wife Glenda on the reception after Easter Vigil and I hadn’t really gotten to know Glenda until that night, and then I was really happy that these two wonderful people were together. They were like Peanut Butter and Jelly. They laughed together, and they made everything work so much more smoothly. That was years ago, and since then, we have become wonderful friends.
When I started here as the full time editor, I was thrilled to see Jim who walked his dogs every day, First Cleo, a gorgeous and elegant brown standard poodle, and then he got Marcus who as a puppy was a bouncy black lovable curly mess, but he grew into a beautiful standard himself. Though he never did match Cleo’s elegance. Jim stopped by almost everyday. It was odd not to see him.
This year however, has been hard. Jim suffered from a bout of pneumonia and then later fell to Vasculitis.
There are many types of Vasculitis. Some forms last only a short time (acute) while others are long lasting (chronic). Vasculitis, which is also known as angiitis and arteritis, can be so severe that the tissues and organs supplied by the affected vessels don’t get enough blood. This shortage of blood can result in organ and tissue damage, even death.
We lost Jim on Tuesday night.
