Goodwill retail and online stores are a great resource for gently loved, unique, and designer label clothing and dorm room décor.  “This time of year is always fun for us!” said Beth Forsberg, VP of Retail Operations for Goodwill Industries of San Diego County.  “Our stylists and merchandising staff pull out their favorite outfits and accessories from incoming donations and create the coolest displays.  So cool, in fact, that restocking the displays has become a sought after assignment for retail staff!”  Goodwill has an amazing selection of jeans including designer labels at the more than 20 retail stores around San Diego County.  “Our accessories and jewelry items are sought after.  We have customers who show up at our front doors every morning just to see what has appeared overnight, and online-  well, that is an even more exciting story” she added.  (shopgoodwill.com/sandiego ).
Stylish teens and tweens know what they need to impress and, according to the survey, the kids plan to chip in, Teens will dole out $30.13 of their own money, and pre-teens will spend an average $18.45.  Parents of college-bound students will devote the greatest amount of the budget to dorm room furnishings.  “Your dollar goes further at Goodwill” added Mike Rowan, CEO of the local Goodwill organization.  “It never hurts to take a look at all opportunities to save a buck.  If you haven’t been inside a Goodwill store since you were a kid, or not at all, you will be amazed at the quality and selection we offer every single day.”
Goodwill Industries of San Diego County is an autonomous, local 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, part of an international network of independent local charities sharing a common vision.  Goodwill’s mission is ‘To get people with disabilities and other barriers to employment jobs by developing their skills and work habits through training and real work.’ Our purpose is ‘Getting People Jobs’.   We offer employment related programs that serve people with varying levels of ability, giving everyone the skills, the time and the confidence to get to work. San Diego’s Goodwill chooses NOT to conduct traditional fundraising activities; we use the revenue we gain from selling donated items; fee-for-service, reuse, recycling and salvage activities to fund the operation of paid job training programs and employment services. The things you no longer need become the product we use to give real work experience to your neighbors.  The local Goodwill has nearly 1,300 employees in San Diego County, and is headquartered in Pt. Loma.  For more information visit sdgoodwill.org.
