Home tour to benefit scholars

The Alpine Woman’s Club is hosting its annual Holiday Home Tour on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in a self-guided tour exploring Alpine’s historical sites in holiday grandeur.

Holiday Home Tour Chair Kathy Stewart said proceeds from this event benefit the Alpine Woman’s Club Scholarship, Education and Preservation Foundation.

“We provide scholarships for Alpine students. To date, we have given $168,000 to graduating students who live in Alpine,” she said.

Stewart said on the day of the event, doors are opening at 9:30 a.m. for shopping in the marketplace, held at the Alpine Town Hall, the home of the Alpine Woman’s Club.

“We are honored to be the preservation and the owners of the club,” she said.

“It is a self-guided tour of beautifully decorated homes in Alpine. Also, the Alpine Historical Society Museum, which has two homes on the property, and a large barn, is an amazing museum that I do not believe that many in the community are aware of how wonderful place to go, bring children, and learn about Alpine,” she said. “We have four homes on the tour this year. They are all amazing and all very different. We have a mid-century modern home which is primarily in pink and orange colors decorated inside and out to the nines for Christmas. We have a vintage home in the Old Ranch that is amazing with a few surprises there. One, a wine cellar dug beneath the old barn that was on the property, which is not turned into a man cave that is out of this world. We also have a beautiful two-story farm house with amazing grounds all surrounded by a white picket fence. The fourth home is in a very old part of Alpine and it is an amazing home with six rooms for viewing. Almost 2.6 square feet of viewing inside and out and it is amazing, and there is a history of their family incorporated into the decorations.”

Stewart said the self-guided tour begins at the Town Hall, where participants pick up their program that has the addresses of all the homes and map. It also has advertisers from the community who are generously sponsoring the tour.

“We encourage people to shop and eat at these businesses,” she said.

Stewart said with the holidays coming, the Town Hall is available for renting for holiday events. The Town Hall can accommodate 100 to 125 guests. She said the seating capacity is 135 for an auditorium setup, so a smaller amount if you need to set up a bar and tables.

“The grounds in back are gorgeous with the gazebo, the grass area, and the scenic view,” she said.

Stewart said tickets can be purchased at https://alpinewomansclub.org/, PostalAnnex, For the LOVE Gift Boutique.

Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of the event, children 5-12 $20, and tickets are available for purchase day of the event.
