Snow blankets the mountians but weather is tricky through the week

Snow sifted onto Mount Laguna, bringing the first snow of the season amidst rain storms and blustery temperatures that dipped to 25 degrees last weekend.  This forecast continues with another snow shower this evening on the mountain.  However there will be a warming trend over the next ten days including a promise of mostly sunny weather on Christmas all over Alpine, the back country and the mountains.

This weather though has caused several accidents along the freeway during the constant and steady downpours.  In the mountains on Tuesday, Interstate 8 eastbound and westbound was littered with fender-benders due to low visibility.  The fog rolled in right around the 79 off-ramp causing some motorists to slow down to speeds of 25 mph.  Around 3:30 p.m. there was a multicar accident, just west of the Descanso exit traveling eastbound, and another accident just east of the Alpine East Willows Road exit traveling westbound.
