Summer adventure at the Alpine library

By Susan Del Castillo

Enjoy a summer filled with learning and adventure with our Summer Learning Challenge! It’s a fantastic opportunity for all ages to dive into reading, exploring, and creating together. Sign up at the library, or check out our website at www.sdcl.org/summer.

July is chock-full of events that guarantee something for everyone at the library.

On Tuesday evening, July 2 at 6 p.m. join us for an exceptional jazz experience with acclaimed vocalist and percussionist Leonard Patton and award-winning pianist Brenda Greggio. Their dynamic duo performance will take you on a journey from classic jazz roots to innovative interpretations of modern pop and rock tunes. Leonard is renowned in the Southern California music scene, while Brenda, a rising jazz star, has already garnered accolades for her remarkable playing and compositions.

Our Wednesday mornings in July promise excitement for kids of all ages! Kick off with “Red, White, and Blue Storytime,” where kids can explore colors and create their own crafts. On the second Wednesday, join Celia the Fiddle Girl for “Meet the Instruments,” and discover a medley of musical styles with various instruments. Mid-month, “Animal Storytime” features Ranger Nate and his fascinating animal friends. Travel back in time with “Jurassic July,” dressing up as your favorite dinosaur for a prehistoric adventure. Wrap up the month with a lively “Dance Party Storytime,” inviting all to dance and sparkle in their best costumes! All programs start at 10:30 a.m.

On Saturday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m. Robin Parks (NCIS, ret.) of the Mountain Lion Foundation presents an informative session on mountain lion biology, behavior, and safety. The presentation covers essential tips on distinguishing between aggressive and non-aggressive behaviors, protecting pets and livestock, and dispelling common myths. Note: Some graphic content may make this event unsuitable for children under twelve.

Please open the attached events calendar for a full schedule of our events, including multi-cultural storytimes, book clubs, writers’ workshops, and exercise classes. Visit us at sdcl.org/alpine and facebook.com/AlpineLibrary. All library programs are free and open to the public. Thank you to the Alpine Library Friends Association for their generous support.

See you at the library!
