February is packed with enÂgaging programs and activities for all ages at the library, and beyond! Every February in San Diego is Museum Month. Enjoy half-price museum admission at more than 60 museums in the San Diego area! The library colÂlaborates with the San Diego Museum Council to distribute passes to all in the community. Pick up your discount pass at the library starting January 24. Begin using the pass February 1.
On Saturday, February 8, from 2-3 p.m., experience US History Through Folk & Rock Music: Songs of Protest (1960- 1990). Relive the powerful hisÂtory of protest music through an engaging audio/visual presenÂtation featuring a live perforÂmance by Desert Crossing. The dynamic duo, Michael J. Dwyer and Rose Darrough, specialize in vocal harmonies across a vaÂriety of music genres. You’ll hear iconic songs from legendary artÂists like Bob Dylan, Barry McÂGuire, Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and REM.
On Saturday, February 15, from 10:30 a.m. – noon, join us for a Local Author Showcase and celebrate our community’s literary talent. Meet four local authors as they share their stoÂries and insights. The guest auÂthors are:

Jo Eager – Healthy by Choice, Not by Chance: Physically, MenÂtally, Spiritually
Laura L. Engel – You’ll Forget This Ever Happened: Secrets, Shame, and Adoption in the 1960s

On Saturday, February 22, from 2-3 p.m., discover the art of quilling in our Paper Quilling Workshop for teens and adults. Learn how to roll, pinch, and shape strips of paper into decoÂrative designs in this hands-on workshop. You’ll create a beauÂtiful paper flower using these techniques. Registration is reÂquired for this event, and you can sign up at sdcl.org/alpine.
Join us for these special stoÂrytimes in February! On ThursÂday, February 13, at 10:30 a.m., enjoy Bilingual Storytime with songs, books, and rhymes in both English and Spanish. Then, on Thursday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m., don’t miss Storybox Theatre, a unique stoÂrytelling experience using the traditional Japanese art of KaÂmishibai to bring international folktales to life. Both events are fun and interactive for children of all ages!
