Thought for the Week: First things first

This month I am picking back up John Randolph Price’s book, Practical Spirituality to see if we can dig deeper into the priceless gems that await us there. The cover of the book has this printed: “Your power is only a theory until it is demonstrated”.

This Sunday the message will be “First Things First” where we go back to the basic teaching brought forth from Jesus the Christ who told us time and again in many different ways that the kingdom of God was within us. That this Father within has always and will always be closer than hands and feet; nearer than our breath. He told us “You are the light of the world”.

We are in essence a co-creator with the Presence and Power that is within us. Since we are made in the image and likeness of God, we have dominion over our world through our thoughts, words and deeds. Knowing our God-Self is unconditional Love, Peace, Joy and much more, we are here to distribute those qualities.

Think of each of us as a light bulb, the light manifest through us, but is not produced by it. It would be presumptuous of the light bulb to say, “Look what I am doing!” Yet it is well to remember that all the tremendous reserve of electricity would be useless for lighting without that tiny bulb. It is the interaction of the two that produces the result.

Living the spiritual life means putting more into life than we’re taking out, which means to do the best you can wherever you are, to help others at every opportunity, and to radiate love and peace in every situation. Above all it means to practice the Presence of God throughout each day.

Say with me: “I am here to remember my true Source and Self which is Infinite Spirit. I act in Its ways of unconditional Love and giving. The more I acknowledge God as my Power, the more I reflect that Power out into my world. And all is truly well. And it is so.”
