This was the biggest fundraiser of the year for this exotic animal sanctuary, with live music, entertainment, silent auctions and food catered by Phil’s BBQ! After ten years of operating as East County’s only exotic animal rescue, LTB has become home to three African Lions, one Mountain Lion, four Bengal Tigers, three Bobcats, one Serval, one Leopard, and several domesticated animals.

Wild in the Country happens every year to welcome fans, and contributors to the Lions Tigers & Bears conservation to see the wonderful work that is being done by Founder and Director Bobbi Brink. Brink is a long time advocate for proper safety and protocol when it comes to exotic animals, and ensures the continuing education of visitors in regards to the dangers of owning exotic wild animals, since most of her rescued inhabitants were once owned by people who were intrigued with owning these majestic wild creatures, which eventually lead to a dangerous and abusive habitation for the animals.
Lions Tigers & Bears has won many awards over the years including the 2012 Organization of the Year Award by the 18th Annual Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce’s ALP’s Awards. LTB has demonstrated dedication to a superior cause, year in and year out, as they strive to consistently rescue exotic animals, and provide a safe haven for them. The latest rescue that occurred in January 2013, was of a famous Black Bear, affectionately known as Meatball. Meatball first made the news circuit when he invaded the community of La Canada Flintridge near Los Angeles to scavenge for food. LTB was called on to provide Meatball with a new home after the California Department of Fish and Game captured him with a combination of culvert traps baited with bacon and honey.
The Wild in the Country event at LTB continues to entertain all who enter the gates to view the many animals that now call this beautiful valley in Japatul their home.
