Alpine Highlights

The San Diego Blood Bank will be collecting blood donations from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Alpine Women’s Club on Sunday, July 5. The community blood drive is the first of its kind since before residents began social distancing to aid in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have not had mobile drives in months due to COVID-19 and we are so excited to once again be out in the Alpine community for an event like this. Summertime is already such a tough time to collect blood — schools are out, people are on vacation and this year is compounded by the fact that most of our community partners aren’t able to host drives. This event is a little return to normalcy,” said San Diego Blood Bank communications manager Claudine VanGonka.
Appointments are required and can be made online at www.sandiegobloodbank.org or by calling (800) 469-7322.
If you know someone or something that should be highlighted in Alpine or the back county, submit ideas to jennifer@thealpinesun.com or staffwriter@thealpinesun.com.
