Civil War Memorabilia was on display along with all of Alpine’s history, at the Alpine Historical Society “Alpine History Day” on      Saturday, June 4, 2016.   Also on display at this year’s event was a Wildlife Habitat Garden that fits in so well with the Alpine Climate.
The Alpine Kiwanis provided lunch items in the form of hamburgers and hot dogs from their Kiwanis Cook Shack and the Historical Society provided ice cream sundaes that were very welcome on a hot Saturday. The Hole in the Wall Gang performed “Bad Guys & Butterflies” Sky Hunters Birds of Prey had an interesting presentation  The activities included: Herb Discovery Walk, Tin-Type Photography, Quilt Display, Learn about Beekeeping, Historic Alpine & Camera Exhibits, Demonstrations of Spinning, Weaving, Treadle Sewing Machine and Crocheting, Balloon Animals, Face Painting and opportunity Drawings!
The money raised from this event will go towards the restoration and maintenance of the two pioneer houses and the preservation of Alpine history. The pioneer houses promote education, business and tourism in Alpine, but more importantly, they save a very special part of our East County history.
