The deadline to apply to the Mountain Empire Unified School Board of Trustees is approaching.
Applications to fill the seat vacated by former Area 6 trustee Tina Heimerdinger are due by 4 p.m. Oct.9
The appointed candidate will fill the seat through the remainder of Heimerdinger’s four-year term, December 2028. That person will also be eligible to run in the November 2028 election for a new-four year term.
To be eligible to serve on the Board a candidate must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the State of California, a resident of Trustee Area 6, a registered voter, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office.
An employee of a school district may not be sworn into office as an elected or appointed member of that school district’s governing board unless and until he or she resigns as an employee.
