Boulder Oaks student tests positive

On Oct. 15 a Boulder Oaks Elementary School parent informed the Alpine Unified School District their child tested positive for COVID-19.

AUSD Superintendent Rich Newman said staff immediately responded by following procedures and contact tracing was reportedly completed within one hour.

Anyone who potentially came in contact with the student was notified that same morning and, as stated on the district website, individuals who test positive are excluded from participation in any in-person or on-site activity and are required to quarantine according to the protocol established by the San Diego County Department of Health.

This marks the only reported district case to date.

As of Oct. 19 there was a total of 133 cases of COVID-19 in Alpine, according to the county.
