It was “Christmas in July” at the latest Alpine Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce mixer!
Hosted by Dana’s Boutique at 2754 Alpine Blvd., Ste. E, there was networking, Christmas music and decorations, a fashion show, opportunity drawings, delicious food and 20 percent discounts on everything in the store.
The event on July 23 helped kick off the Chamber effort to decorate every building on Alpine Boulevard with holiday lights this year to draw attention to Alpine for Christmas shopping and special events.
“We’re excited for this (opportunity) to make Alpine the Christmas destination,” said Mary Parra of Mountain Health & Community Services, a Chamber Ambassador. “It’s just the beginning.”
Chamber Chairman and Ambassador Ben Everhart of Comfort Keepers said the purpose of the Alpine Boulevard lighting project is to make Alpine the brightest, most well-lighted community in the region during the year-end holidays.
Other Chamber directors, board members and staff also were at the mixer.
“The whole goal of Christmas in July is to keep (people) shopping in Alpine,” said Dana Paskle, owner of Dana’s Boutique and also an Ambassador. “Welcome to our first annual Christmas in July Fashion Show!”
Dressed in beautiful, affordable styles ranging from fashionably casual to chic sophistication, models Patricia Tweed, President of the Soroptimist International of Alpine, and Karen Murphy of the Alpine Woman’s Club, were charming. Both groups are Chamber members.
Models Kellie Peel, Jacqui Brown-Schmidt, Chelsea Lowe, Lisa Cranfield, Nicole Disimone, Briana Tweed and Lexi McClure were also lovely in Dana’s apparel and accessories. Portia Franklin of Mary Kay Cosmetics was the makeup artist for the event.
Myrna Mayer, owner of New Reflections, provided the facility and the tacos, tamales, fixings and chips were from Kaelin’s Alpine Express. Dana’s Boutique offered champagne and dessert.
Pianist William Young and DJ Tony Gilbert provided all the right summer and Christmas music.  The County of San Diego supplied traffic barricades and cones.
