Connect at the library

By Susan del Castillo

Hello Library Friends,

September is a wonderful time to learn, create, and connect at the library. We have hands-on workshops, creative projects, and community activities for all ages to enjoy.

Our seed library is back for fall planting! You can take seeds and/or donate seeds to share with the community. Families are welcome to take up to two packets of seeds per day. Come in and check it out as you plan your garden.

Speaking of gardening, adults are welcome to attend Mediterranean Container Gardening on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. This workshop will focus on growing Mediterranean herbs that thrive in Southern California’s climate with minimal water. Topics will include soil, fertilizers, pest management, and companion planting. Registration is required at sdcl. org/alpine.

Adults and teens can get creative at our Fall Quilling Class on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Quilling is the art of rolling and shaping strips of paper into intricate designs, and Tina will guide participants in making a beautiful leaf using this technique. Registration is required at sdcl.org/alpine.

Kids and teens are invited to join us for a new program, Community Care Cards, on Tuesday, September 30, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Participants will create thoughtful cards for members of our community, such as thank you cards for local helpers, cheerful notes for hospital patients, and messages of encouragement to brighten someone’s day. All supplies will be provided by the library.

This is a small sampling of our events. Open the attached calendar for a complete schedule or connect with us online at sdcl.org/alpine and facebook. com/AlpineLibrary. All library programs are free and open to the public, thanks to the Alpine Library Friends Association’s generous support!

See you at the library!
