Greetings Library Friends, October is the perfect time to visit the library and join in the fun! We’re kicking off the month with a special evening of music for adults and teens. Join us on Thursday, October 9 from 5–6 p.m. for a live performance by Celtic harpist Deirdre Sullivan. Her lively dance tunes and beautiful ballads from Ireland, Scotland, and beyond are sure to enchant.
Kids can get into the Halloween spirit with two monsterthemed activities on Saturday, October 18 from 10:30–11:30 a.m. At “Make a Monster,” we’ll supply the craft materials so children can dream up their own creations. Then, head to the Children’s Area for a Cryptid Scavenger Hunt—Bigfoot and friends have been spotted, and we need your help to find them! Finally, on Tuesday, October 28 at 4 p.m., gather for “Scary Stories,” a spooky readaloud of ghostly tales and mysterious adventures perfect for schoolage children.
The Alpine Library Friends Association supports the library through fundraising, promotion, programs, and volunteering. You are invited to a special Annual Meeting, celebrating 125 years of service, on Tuesday, October 7 from 5–6 p.m. Highlights of the meeting include the election of officers, awarding of a $50 gift certificate, and light refreshments. Please refer to the attached invitation for more details and to RSVP.
The library is also a Registrar of Voters Vote Center for the upcoming special election. Beginning October 25, you can register to vote and cast your ballot right here at the library. For more information contact the ROV at 858-565-5800.
All library programs are free and open to the public. For more events information, open the attached calendar or connect with us online at sdcl.org/alpine and facebook.com/AlpineLibrary.
See you at the library!
