HELPERS ABOUND

Not long after the West Fire and the Building Fire started threatening people who live and work in the East County foothills, neighbors and strangers came together to help each other as best they could. Good Samaritans Emily and Brandy Glensky of Lakeside brought cases of water for volunteers at Lakeside Rodeo Grounds, where horses and other large animals belonging to people fleeing the July 6 fires could be housed. Pictured with the Glenskys is Lakeside Rodeo/ECSA board member Becky McBride. Below left, firefighters on July 7 worked to put out hot spots throughout Alpine.
