Homes throw doors open just in time for holiday hosting

The Alpine Woman’s Club is hosting a holiday marketplace at the old Alpine Town Hall on Dec. 10.

After two years of keeping doors closed due to the COVID- 19 pandemic, Alpine Woman’s Club is hosting its 15th annual Holiday Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 10 to raise funds for their Scholarship, Education and Preservation Foundation.

The club, based out of the old Alpine Town Hall building is also hosting a holiday marketplace event that same day, timed so anyone picking up their tickets for the tour can also do a little shopping inside the historic building.

Publicity coordinator Anna Knuth said all the items which will be for sale that day are handmade by club members or their friends and family, and were donated so all profits go back to the non-profit.

“To start the tour, you have to check in at the club to get your map and information for the day. We’ll have the marketplace inside the town hall so people can shop for all sorts of holiday items. We received some crocheted Christmas stockings made by a woman’s mom who has never had them out or used them but decided the timing is perfect to donate them for a good cause. We’ll have ornaments, jewelry, fun coasters in different shapes, really a wide variety of gifts,” Knuth said.

There are six homes on the tour, all owned by “homeowners who are proud of everything they’ve done to make their home beautiful,” Knuth said and want to show their hard work to the community.

“Actually, I’m relatively surprised people were willing to open them up to the public. There are a couple who just love Christmas and decorating and instead of just sharing it with close family and friends, they saw it as an opportunity to invite more people in to share that joy,” Knuth said.

On the other side of the door, patrons who tour the homes often enjoy seeing the difference between very rustic houses versus traditional estate homes, Knuth said, and usually return home with ideas on how to decorate their own trees or fireplace mantles.

“It’s a way to get into the holiday spirit, it brings everyone happiness and joy,” Knuth said.

Advance tickets are $35 and can be purchased online at www.alpinewomansclub.org, or inside Postal Annex at 2170 Alpine Boulevard, For the Love at 2530 Alpine Boulevard, and Alpine Garden and Gifts at 2442 Alpine Blvd.

Tickets will also be on sale for $40 on the day of the event at the town hall, located at 2156 Alpine Blvd.
