Quest for more awareness

Linda Cioffi and Shawn Styles

More than 300 people packed the Alpine Community Center for theOct. 4 QUEST FOR THE CURE fundraiser organized by owner and operator of Alpine View Lodge, Linda Cioffi.

Friday’s event brought in nearly $30,000 in donations, according to Cioffi. The donated funds go directly toward supporting the Walk4Alz that ultimately benefits Alzheimer’s San Diego. All of the money remains in San Diego county, to provide financial support for local facilities that participate in alzheimer’s and memory loss research.

For the fourth year in a row, Channel 8 newsman Shawn Styles served as master of ceremonies for the Oktoberfest themed event which included a live auction, silent auction and opportunity drawing.

Cioffi said she was thrilled with how the event turned out and attributed that success to the community.

“I’m really grateful for the support of Alpine. Shawn Styles was, as usual, friggin’ fabulous. Alpine did what Alpine does: turned up and made it happen,” Cioffi said.

Cioffi informed the crowd that the QUEST FOR THE CURE group has been the number one fundraising team at the Walk4Alz event for the past five years because of generous contributions given by Alpine community members.

She said she is grateful for support of local organizations, including the Alpine Chamber of Commerce, Alpine Community Center, Kiwanis of Alpine and Alpine VFW.

Cioffi issued a reminder to the community: there is still time to join the team or provide financial support prior to the Walk4Alz happening on Oct. 19 at Balboa Park. Interested parties can contact her at: linda@alpineviewlodge.com
