For many in Alpine, the 12th Annual Attic Treasures Sale isn’t just a fundraiser — it’s a local tradition.
“This event is open to the public, and we love to see the community show up and support our mission,” said Jessie Weeks, PR chair of the Alpine Woman’s Club. “Neighbors often line up at the door on the first day, hoping to find that special treasure.”
Later this month, the Historic Town Hall will come alive with a three-day treasure hunt, as gently used, vintage and collectible items fill the space. From c l o thing and jewelry to kitchenware, small appliances, and holiday décor, the sale reflects the generosity and the creativity of club members. In recent years, a boutique section displaying designer labels has added a new layer of excitement for shoppers.
The event traces its roots to the early 1980s, when a small shop called The Antiques Attic operated upstairs in the Town Hall, offering upscale furniture and household items. Twelve years ago, honoring that legacy, the Alpine Woman’s Club revived the concept as an annual fundraiser — one of the most important of the year.
Proceeds support the Alpine Woman’s Club Scholarship, Preservation and Education Foundation, helping maintain the Historic Town Hall, built in 1899 and deeded to the club in 1932. The building is one of Alpine’s few original structures to survive fires and the passage of time, making its preservation a key part of the club’s mission.
Scholarship recipients feel the impact directly. Aubry Falk, a 2025 recipient and graduate of El Capitan High School, is now attending UC Davis, majoring in linguistics and minoring in Chinese. “I’m honored to receive the Alpine Woman’s Club Scholarship,” she said, reflecting on the opportunities it has opened.
Behind the scenes, club members spend weeks collecting, organizing, and pricing donations, then staffing the sale floor. Their unofficial motto, “Many hands make for lighter work,” underscores the dedication that makes the event possible.
Even for those who don’t attend, there are ways to contribute, including the Community Sponsorship program, the Holiday Home Tour, or direct donations through the club’s website.
For the Alpine Woman’s Club, the Attic Treasures Sale is more than fundraising. It’s a celebration of history, community, and the joy of uncovering hidden gems — a tradition that keeps Alpine connected and thriving.
