Last week 100’s of County luminaries gathered at the Viejas Casino Dream Catcher Lounge to witness the blessing by Charlie Brown of 7,217 toys which had been donated by the Viejas Tribal Government, the employees of Viejas as well as many guests.  These toys are on their way to hundreds of children who might otherwise have found nothing from Santa on Christmas Morning.

There were over 100 items set up for silent bidding as well as a live auction during the event.  Tribal Council members gathered on stage as Council Chairman Anthony Pico presented the Salvation Army with a check for $15,000.  Pico remarked that tribal customs have always included sharing good fortune with those less fortunate.

The Salvation Army was on hand to accept the toys and cash donation, noting that every toy and every penny would be passed on to the most needy in San Diego County.  The essence of Christmas was alive and well and exemplified the spirit of giving
