Alpine American Legion looking for help

The Alpine American Legion Post 258 is currently on a month-to- month lease and Post Commander Wally Bentsen said although it is looking to do some improvements to the property, it is working on getting a longer term lease.

Under the current terms of the contract the Alpine post is responsible for repairs to the property, however Bentsen said they don’t want to spend too much money unless they know they will be in the building long-term.

“We do a lot for our veterans, and we do some things in the community as well,” he said. “We participate in the annual Alpine parades. We would like to do more in the community. We are looking at this, but we do not want to invest too much money on this property until we can get a longer termed lease.”

“We have a lot of stuff piling up in the back and we are looking for a truck or trailer and some volunteers to help us accomplish cleaning it up. Our roof leaks, so we are also looking for volunteers, equipment, and materials to do the roof repair.”
