On Friday December 4th Principal Ms Jenna Weinert presented a check for almost $1400 dollars to Alpine Library Friends President Christine Connell to help furnish the New Alpine Library.
The monthly assembly was a wonderful example of the support by this community for the new library.   Students at Boulder Oak had read over 15,000 minutes and got sponsored by their families and friends.
Students received 50% of their donations in Usborne books and 50% was donated to the new library.  Pat Vacio, director of the Program donated an I-pad Mini to the student drawn from a hat of students raising over $100 during the read-a-thon. Her hard work and generosity made this great program such a success.
Ms. Lorensen’s class read the most minutes and raised the most money.  Camden Sos read the most minutes and Trinity Merrin received the most pledges.  Congratulations to all the children who participated and read for so long.  They are all winners!
Work on the library is moving forward fast, and soon the library will be enclosed completely so work on the interior can be completed in time for the May opening.
The rear Community Center parking lot has been fenced off while work is done to reconfigure and add parking for ACC, softball, tennis and allow better access to ACC Storage. The park is still accessible by the path between the Wall of Honor and the blue fence.  Parking is expected to reopen in 4-6 weeks depending on the weather.
ALFA is close to our target of $500,000 and all tax deductible donations will help ensure the best library in East County.  Call 659-0458 for information on how to donate or visit the Bookstore at 2045 Alpine Blvd. to find great bargains for holiday giving.
