The U.S. Department of Justice coordinated with several wildlife sanctuaries across the country, including Lions Tigers & Bears in Alpine, to rescue dozens of endangered animals from Tiger King Park in Thackerville, Florida.
Tiger King Park was a private zoo made famous last year as the subject of a Netflix documentary: “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.” The animals were seized because of violations to the Endangered Species Act. Two of the 69 animals are now housed at the Alpine sanctuary. Two female tigers are under quarantine at Lions Tigers & Bears for 30 days.
