Rowena Murray (left) represented California and Alpine in the recent
National Senior Games in Albuquerque New Mexico. She participated
in the track and field events in the women’s age group 60 to 64 years
old. She ran personal best times in the 400 and 800 meters. She took
home two bronze medals in the 400m and 800m and placed 5th in the
200 meter. Murray met 103-year-old Julia Hawkins (right) who ran the
50 meter and 100 meter races.
“I will never forget her advice on life, ‘Always keep moving’,” Murray
said.
