The Alpine Veterans of Foreign Wars post is hosting a family-friendly barbecue and poker tournament fundraiser at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19. Proceeds from the event will go to supÂport local 8th-grade students who are planning to participate in an annual spring break trip to Washington D.C., Boston, and New York.
According to fundraiser coordinators, the poker tournament requires a $50 buy-in. The top four winners will receive 10% of the final pot, with the remaining 60% going directly to fund the trip.
Buy-in for the tournament includes one barÂbecue dinner platter. Additional $12 barbecue dinner platters are available for sale. AssisÂtance with the food is being provided by BBQ Pit of El Cajon.
Games will be available for children and families who purchase dinner but do not wish to participate in the poker tournament.
