The women of the Alpine Woman’s Club have been bringing elegance to our little town for 23 years with their Victorian Tea.  This year was no exception as the ladies arrived in their beautiful hats, and many of them were decked out in a full Victorian costume, complete with undergarments, satin trains and lacy jabots.

In a time where many of us can’t take the time, or afford the expense of elegance, this tea is a reminder of different days past.  The beautiful place settings of delicate tea sets were arranged atop table dressings of pale pink and white lace.  The delicate finger sandwiches, small tea cakes, and assorted sweets were a delicious compliment to the perfunctory tea.
A century ago, tea-time was a real thing, usually celebrated around four in the afternoon.  It is still enjoyed in England, but as our busier schedules have begun delete the nicer aspects of life, we seldom see a tea-time, unless it is choreographed as this wonderful event sponsored by the Alpine Woman’s Club.
