Did you know that Alpine was designated as the nation’s first Certified Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation? Alpine received this designation on May 1, 1999, with more than 100 certified gardens. Today there are 246 certified gardens. To keep the designation, Alpine residents are encouraged to certify their gardens. The community receives points for each certified garden. Residents who recently certified their garden with the NWF are Deborah Cuttler, Dwight D. Davis and Myra Thompson-Bull.
If you know someone or something that should be highlighted in Alpine or the back county, submit ideas to jennifer@thealpinesun.com or staffwriter@thealpinesun.com.
