Alpine’s Christmas home tour approaches

The home of Alpine Sunrise Goatoga is on the Christmas home tour this year. Will the goats be dressed up for the holidays as reindeer? Will the homes have different varieties of poinsettia like Jingle Bell Rock, Ice Punch, or Country Quilt?

Those questions and more will be revealed on the 13th Annual Christmas in Alpine Home Tour.

The 13th Annual Christmas in Alpine Home Tour will take place Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The starting off spot will be the Alpine Woman’s Club on 2156 Alpine Blvd.

“The goats will definitely be in costumes,” said Diane Melvin, owner of Alpine Sunrise Goatoga. She may even offer a tip on a yoga move to help relieve stress from the holidays.

“I’ll be doing demos on wreaths, garland, and bows,” said Kathy Matranga, of Alpine Garden and Gifts. Matranga will be one of several places to buy your tickets for the event. Postal Annex and online at the Alpine Woman’s Club are two other ticket sales sites.

“This is our 13th year. We have five beautiful homes on the tour,” said Kathy Stewart, chair of the event, “One of which is the home of Goatoga.”

The tour is a self-guided tour in your own vehicle.

Every home is unique according to Stewart. Over the years the tour has ranged from an apartment to an ornate, grand estate.

“One had handkerchiefs, one had a nativity home, and a country theme,” said Stewart, “Even multiple trees — ten to fifteen.”

The maps for the tour can be picked up at the Alpine Woman’s Club. Refreshments will be served.

“We sold over 250 tickets last year,” said Stewart. Prepaid tickets are $30 and $35 the day of the tour. A small fee applies to online sales.

“I’ve lived here two years,” noted Stewart, “By going on the tour, it made me feel great, a part of the community.”
