Holiday parade registration deadline approaches

The Alpine Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 27th annual Parade of Lights. This event began in 1995, and last year an estimated 7,000 people were in attendance. The parade is on Friday, Dec. 6, and begins at 6 p.m., running westbound on Alpine Boulevard from W. Victoria Drive to Tavern Road. Deadline to register as a participant is Friday, Nov. 29.

Alpine Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Lynn Meyer said the Parade of Lights is a family-friendly event and encourages parents to always keep their children with them, not allowing them to run in the parade as it can be dangerous.

“Attendees can expect 75-90 parade entries, including those from businesses, organizations, such as Alpine Little League, families, the fire and sheriff departments, a marching band, and, of course, Santa Claus. The parade usually lasts about one and a half hours. Most food businesses are open during the parade. It is a fantastic opportunity to see friends and neighbors and meet other residents and visitors,” she said. “Also, many businesses on Alpine Boulevard will be decorated as part of our Light Up the Boulevard event, where all businesses are asked to put up lights and decorate for the holidays. Those participating will be judged by a group of child judges, with the winner being awarded the perpetual trophy with their name engraved on it to display at their business. We encourage everyone to visit the businesses and check out the decorations from Nov. 22 through Jan. 1, 2025.”
