We have come to recognize that beyond the chattering thinking mind is the knower, the witness, the true self. As we climb up the ladder of spiritual awareness, we become attuned to this pure holy self which is one with the divine, the infinite, with God. We live from this vantage the more we open our hearts to let and allow the circumstances of life to simply happen, without our need of control them or be disappointed by them.
It takes a willingness to let go of judgment. It takes a willingness to turn our face to the light that is ever present. Keep your identity clear so that nothing on the outside can touch or harm your true self. It takes making the decision to just be happy with life. Do you want to be happy or not? Most folks would immediately say, “Well of course I want to be happy!” But be aware what I’m talking about here is “unconditional” happiness. In other words, can you be happy regardless of what is going on around you? If you want to be happy you have to let go of that part of you that wants to create melodrama. This is the part that thinks there’s a reason not to be happy. Unconditional happiness is the highest technique there is and is truly a spiritual path leading directly to Awakening.
Michael Singer wrote: “The greatest gift you can give God is to be pleased with His creation. If you want to be close to God, learn to be joyful. If you remain spontaneously happy and centered, no matter what happens, you will find God. When you are done playing with the temporal and finite you will be open to the eternal and the infinite.” You will transcend beyond happiness to ecstasy, bliss, Nirvana and freedom.
