Thought for the Week: Pray and prosper

There is an organizing, creative intelligence, many call God, Spirit, Source, that is in and as all. Each of us is a unique creation, endowed with and as the wholeness of Spirit. Each of us is given dominion over our thoughts and feelings. It is up to us as to whether or not we will see and act with right judgment or otherwise. To see and act with right judgment takes conscious intention to recognize and elevate our awareness to truth – to the Reality that is within and all around.

Many people think of and perform pray as an act of petitioning – of begging and beseeching a “God out there” to give us (or not give us) something that we want (or don’t want). Unfortunately, this type of pray is folly. There is no God out there able to sway to give or not give us anything. The fact of the matter is that all that God is – wholeness, perfection, unconditional love, perfect right action, etc. has already given Itself to all.

Ernest Holmes, the founder of Religious Science, tell us, “The purpose of prayer, or spiritual communion, is to seek conscious union with this indwelling Presence. The prayer of power is not so much a petition as it is an inner recognition. We must permit rather than petition. The music of the spheres is heard only by those who listen – not with an ear dulled by condemnation and censure, but with praise and thanksgiving. True pray always says “Thy will be done.” God cannot will anything other than perfection; God cannot will anything other than abundance; God cannot will anything other than goodness, truth and beauty.” Let us go within to this beauty that lies in restful repose, awaiting our recognition of It.

Say with me: “Today I seek the will of God which is within me. I commune with this Love so deeply that there is no separation. The presence. I am grateful to be a miracle worker. And it is so.”
