Happy New Year! May this New Year bring you continual happiness. We hope you will find programs and services at the library that will enrich your life this year, and for many more going forward!
Have you ever wondered what it would take to start your own colony of bees? What supplies do you need? How much does it cost? How much time and energy would it take? Beekeeper, Marisa Graves, will give you all of this information, and more on Saturday, January 6 at 10:30 a.m. This is the time of year to start gathering your supplies if you want to have your own hive!
If your New Year’s resolution is to get healthy, we have two programs that will interest you. Feeling Fit Club meets every Friday from 2 – 3 p.m. This class focuses on aerobic endurance, strength, flexibility, and balance, to maintain independence. A big thank you to our County partners at Aging & Independence Services for providing this program.
On Saturday, January 20 at 10:30 a.m., the Alpine Library Friends Association is hosting a San Diego Oasis class, Mindfulness Awareness. We will explore the application of this ancient teaching to reduce stress, anxiety, and suffering. The practice of mindfulness often leads to a sense of balance, connection and well-being. Instructor SofÃa Puerta Webber has over 15 years of experience teaching yoga and meditation.
We are debuting a new after school program for kids this month – Lego Club! Bring your imagination and we will supply the Lego. Lego Club is for kids ages 5 and up and will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., January 9 and 23.
To round out Saturdays in January, we have Family Bingo on the 13th at 11 a.m. and on January 27 at 10:30 a.m., we are celebrating Lewis Carroll’s birthday with a Mad Hatter Storytime and craft for kids. Alice in Wonderland fans will not want to miss it!
All library programs are free and open to the public. Open the attached events calendar for a complete schedule or visit sdcl. org/alpine. Thank you to the Alpine Library Friends Association for their generous support. See you at the library!
