Border agents make Mother’s Day arrest

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man May 9 in Boulevard, California who they suspected entered the country without autho­rization.

During processing agents learned the man, a citizen of Mexico, had been previously convicted of sexual abuse and was a regis­tered sex offender in New York state, authorities said.

The 38-year-old man was sent back to Mexico.

On May 4 U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two U.S. citizens suspected of transporting drugs in their vehicle.

A 50-year-old man driving a Chevy Avalanche pulled into the Pine Valley checkpoint at approximately 3:45 p.m. During questioning a drug-sniffing K-9 alerted agents to the possible presence of narcot­ics, according to border patrol authorities.

During a search of the vehicle agents discovered a 30-year-old female passenger had affixed vacuum-sealed packages to her body and was allegedly transporting 12.78 pounds of heroin.

The man and woman were turned over to DEA agents.
