Wrap up your summer with our Summer Learning Challenge! It’s a fantastic opportunity for all ages to dive into reading, exploring, and creating together. It’s not too late to sign up at the library and win fun prizes!
We’re offering an exciting series of storytime events this month on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. On Aug. 1, the Alpine Princess Ambassadors enchanted children with stories and were available for photos. On Aug. 8, enjoy a bilingual storytime featuring songs, books, and rhymes in both English and Spanish, perfect for all ages. Experience the Japanese storytelling tradition of Kamishibai on Aug. 22, with a wooden theatre and professional storyteller bringing international folktales to life. Finally, on August 29, meet Sergeant Sloppye and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Ambassadog, Teddy, for a delightful reading session. Don’t miss these unique and engaging events!
Come to our final Summer Concert: Beethoven to Broadway, on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. Enjoy a delightful evening with the San Diego Chamber Music Society as Bruce Dorcy on horn and Beverly Reese Dorcy on piano play their most beloved pieces from over 20 years of concerts. This lighthearted performance promises to have something for everyone.
Adults and teens can get creative with Crafters’ Paradise every Wednesday from 1:30-3:30 p.m., where you can bring your own project, or get a lesson on how to crochet or knit, with free yarn provided! On Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, learn how to make your own beaded bracelets from a variety of lovely beads. Registration for the beaded bracelet workshop is required at sdcl.org/alpine.
