Family Halloween activities are frightfully abundant

Lions Tigers & Bears in Alpine is holding its Spooky Campover Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. Camp out in the countryside and sleep under the stars with the sanctuary animals at Lions Tigers & Bears. This spooky overnight event includes campfire songs, pumpkin carving, a Halloween costume contest, and an all-ages haunted house., and S’mores. The next morning is the Pumpkin Bash, during the morning sanctuary visit. Held at Marshal Scotty’s Playland in El Cajon through Nov. 2, The Haunted Amusement Park is now open. This fast-paced Fear inducing one mile long Haunted Scare Trail will be sure to get you in the Halloween spirit. Set on the grounds of the San Diego Landmark ‘Marshal Scotty’s, the old Amusement park is the perfect backdrop for San Diego’s Biggest Haunted Scare Trail. You will start by entering through the Clown’s mouth into the Midway, where you will get a first-row view of the twisted Carny’s trying to get you involved in their demented games. Then you will slip on a pair of 3D Glasses and visit the old Bumper Cars attraction. Your vision will play tricks on you as you try to navigate the Glow of the Black Light maze with Neon Clowns lurking under the fog. Next, try your best to not get stuck in the Freak Show Maze, they are always looking for new members to join their horde. You’ll visit the house of oddities, an Actual Haunted House, the Graveyard, and more. Go under the Old Rollercoaster to see a few recognizable faces, but watch your back, they are out to get you! The slaughter house is next, and probably the scariest part of your visit. If you make it out in one piece, you’ll get a second to catch your breath and to stop for a selfie in front of the old Ferris Wheel. Santee Lakes is holding its 2nd Annual Spooktacular & Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake 1 and Lake 2. This is a ghoulish day of trunk-or-treating, food trucks, games, inflatables, face painting, a DJ, photo opportunities, and more. There will be a Mary’s Donut Walk, local businesses will decorate their trunks/booths and handing out tons of candy. For the little monsters, dress in your best costume. Quest Church is holding its Harvest Festival on Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m. This free event is open to the entire community and includes carnival games, jumpers, pony & tractor hay rides, live music and dance, trunk or treat and so much more. Grossmont College is holding its Devilishly Good DThrough Oct. 31, Family Christmas Tree Farm in El Cajon has its pumpkin patch ready for picking the perfect Halloween pumpkins. Admission is $5 per person, and children 2 and under are free.
