Summer fun planned at library

By Susan del Castillo

Get ready for a summer filled with learning and adventure with our Summer Learning Challenge! It’s a fantastic opportunity for all ages to dive into reading, exploring, and creating together. Sign up at the library starting June 1, or check out our website at www.sdcl.org/ summer.

This month at the Library, we’ve curated a diverse lineup of events and activities, promising something special for everyone to enjoy!

On Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. Hooray Miss Marae presents “Flap! Flutter! Fly!” an interactive, multi-disciplinary arts program that combines playful music, singing puppets, and silly characters on a mission to save the “Wingdom.” This unique experience is designed to captivate young imaginations and inspire a love for music and reading. Get ready to hop, flap, clap, and buzz along with Miss Marae and her friends! This program is geared toward children ages 0-7 and their families.

On Saturday, June 22 from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. we are offering a CPR & AED training course for San Diego County residents who are Deaf, Deafblind, Deaf Disabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late Deafened. ASL interpreters will be provided for effective communication. Gain essential life-saving skills and emergency preparedness training. Teens attending must be accompanied by an adult. This program is funded by a Listos California CERT Support Grant and SDG&E. To register, text 619-857-8050 or email Teresa. Greenhalgh@sdcounty.ca.gov.

Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Join our grief support group, facilitated by a devoted library volunteer, every Friday in June from 10:30 a.m. until noon, as we come together to share experiences and find solace in community. Participants will have the opportunity to make an altered book to honor their loved one. Using the altered book style, select a book that holds significance and personalize it with pictures, quotes, mementos, and more. Sign up at sdcl.org/alpine.

These are just a few of our offerings this month. Please open the attached events calendar for a complete schedule or visit sdcl.org/alpine. All library programs are free and open to the public. Thank you to the Alpine Library Friends Association for their generous support.
