Oh there’s no place like home for the holidays. . .especially when it’s decorated in lovely red and green!  The Woman’s Club annual Holiday Home tour was another grand success with six beautiful residences that opened their doors to visitors on  December 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This annual event raises money for the club’s activities such as their scholarship fund and the preservation of the beautiful historic town hall, where they hold their meetings.  The club’s objectives are to promote the social, civic, educational and cultural advancement of Alpine residents, and to that end, this tour showcases Alpine culture.
Beginning the tour at the Woman’s Club located at 2156 Alpine Boulevard, one can appreciate the architecture of a building that was built in the late 1800’s by Benjamin Arnold.  The interior’s hard wood surface gleams, as you walk into a warm and friendly meeting space that has been home to town hall meetings, craft sales, weddings, plays and dances over the years.
The Spineto Home on Hyacinth Road was a wonder with fun themes in every room.  Disney and other popular animated figures are on display in all their Christmas glory.  The Fuller home shared their Dicken’s Village Houses along with their traditional Holiday décor.  The Lamar’s home was a warm reminder of the Tuscan tradition, and the Lusink residence showcased a collection that was started back in 1965 including her favorite angels.
On the way through town the Alpine Garden and Gifts welcomed everyone into their nursery to enjoy the vendors’ Artisan creations, as well as their  beautiful selection of plants, pots custom planters, bird houses and willow items.  They had coffee and tea, with pastries for all the visitors that stopped by.  The last home on the list was the Gomez Warner home. This smart home featured a touch screen to activate the front gates and integrated technology throughout the home that made one wonder if this home was what the future holds for all of us.
